Lisa Marsan is a civilian law enforcement trainer and site supervisor currently working in the private security field.  She has received instructor certifications from PPCT Management Systems, Inc., an internationally recognized authority on research-based use-of-force and tactical team training for criminal justice agencies.  PPCT specializes in training instructors for police, corrections, security and military agencies world-wide.  Lisa’s PPCT certifications include:  Defensive Tactics Instructor, PPCT S.H.A.R.P. (Sexual Harassment, Assault and Rape Prevention) Instructor, and Spontaneous Knife Defense Instructor.  Her other training includes certification in First Aid/CPR and AED, and as a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer.  She has taken numerous security-related courses including Methods of Instruction, Leadership and Management and Tactical Communications.

 Lisa has been studying martial arts since 1994.  She holds Black Belt ranking in several martial arts, including Ninpo Taijutsu (3rd Dan), Goju Ryu Karate-Do and Jiu Jitsu (2nd Dan), Kobudo (2nd Dan), Iaido (2nd Dan), and Jodo (1st Dan), and is a certified instructor in Tai Chi Chuan.  She has taught martial arts classes to adults, children and private students in private clubs and for the City of Toronto for eight years.  She has competed and judged in numerous tournaments, receiving first-place in forms and sparring at the 2001 All-Goju Ryu Invitational in New York City.  She has participated in over fifty seminars featuring top-ranking instructors from Japan, the Caribbean, the United States, and Canada. She has also performed in public demonstrations at street festivals, pre-game and half-time shows for the Toronto Argonauts, movie premieres, concert festivals, and on television’s Canada AM.  She has published articles about the martial arts for local magazines and community newspapers.

 Lisa entered the law enforcement field in 2002 after more than fifteen years in the corporate sector as a customer service specialist in the travel industry.  She changed careers in order to combine her customer service and administrative skills and her teaching background with a view to further developing her leadership capabilities.  She has since worked at a variety of high-profile accounts, in addition to teaching defensive tactics and classroom courses for a private security company.

 In her spare time, Lisa enjoys writing, reading, travel and outdoor activities.  She has practiced yoga for thirteen years, and has a keen interest in Eastern philosophies.  She is committed to continuous personal development and service to others.
