Mike Terry, is an accomplished
speaker with Toastmasters. He originally joined Toastmasters in November of 2005 to find a
collapsing Club. Through his persistence, hard work and determination, he
brought new creative ideas and skills through the door. Working with the club
executive (sometimes on a daily basis) to create an array of communication
instruments, both pre and post; and to develop and conduct club mentoring and
educational programs, he aided in bringing the club back from the verge of
collapse. He also spent a great deal of time speaking to graduates at academic
institutions.
Armed with extensive skills in recruiting and an incredibly vibrant energy he
joined the executive and accelerated through the ranks to the position of VP
Membership. In this position he was able to motivate an increase in base
membership from 10 people to 34 people in 4 months, a virtually unheard of
accomplishment within the Toastmasters organization.
Mike is a recognized expert in motivation, team building and leadership and as
such he has organized mentoring and knowledge training programs to pass on his
skills to new members of Toastmasters Division 60, where he attends weekly
meetings.
Mr. Terry works part time as a licensed Private Investigator with a private
security company in the GTA, honing his investigation and communications skills.
Having begun his study of NLP in 2003, by reading the famous book Frogs into
Princes by Richard Bandler and John Grinder, he has recently come under the
tutelage of Dr. Vandeyck, for formal certification in both NLP and Ericksonian
Hypnotherapy. Mike is using these new found skills to enhance both his personal
and professional interactions with people.
In March 2006, Mike completed his Instructor certifications in
the Critical Avoidance Program (Self-Defense for Women), Monadnock MDTS
and MEB. This personal accomplishment was outdone by his first experience with
Oleoresin Capsicum when he was certified in Total Force Control Training
System's Aerosol Weapons course. As part of his Instructor Certification he had
to experience the effects of pepper spray. The video can be found
