Advanced Communication
Tactics (A.C.T.) - (1) Basic
The primary goal of this 8 hour program is to
provide suitable advanced communications training so those students
can effectively learn how to resolve conflicts. Upon completion of
the training students will be able to recognize the potential
escalation in a confrontation situation and know how to make
reasonable judgmental decisions for the selection of the most
appropriate response option in any given situation. In addition,
methods of de-escalating the situation by the use of unconscious
communications processes will be developed to assist in controlling
the environment to the extent that the task at hand is completed to
the satisfaction of all parties involved without the need of utilizing
physical protection skills whenever possible. In the event the
situation should still deteriorate into physical confrontations
appropriate communications will be developed for use during such
conflicts. All training will highlight the strong link of officer
safety to communications. The provision of this training will help to
eliminate or reduce liability to both the employee and the employer in
confrontation situations.
Advanced Communication

the basic program builds on the skills the communicator already has by
use of role-plays and dynamic simulations. Each student will be
expected to verbally de-escalate potentially violent situations that
are common in day to day activities for Law Enforcement. Each
one will be video taped and feedback will be provided on the incident.
Advanced Communication
Tactics (A.C.T.) - (3) Advanced
This 24 hour first time user or 8 hour upgrade to
the intermediate program builds on the skills the communicator already
has by use of role-plays and dynamic simulations. This course focuses
on dealing with E.D.P.’s and the emotionally upset person. The
simulations are based on dealing with people who need more attention
verbally and resolving conflicts with use of words instead of use of
force. Each student will be expected to verbally de-escalate
potentially violent situations that are common in dealing with
Emotionally Disturbed People. Each one will be video taped and
feedback will be provided on the incident.
